Discover Chino

Chino is known for its dairy farms and is located in the Inland Empire of Southern California. Chino began as a Rancho in the early 1800s and was patented by Isaac Williams in 1869. Richard Gird bought Chino Rancho in 1887 and subdivided the land and founded the Town of Chino. Sugar, beets, corn and alfalfa were grown there and Chino incorporated in 1910. Chino’s dairy economy flourished from the 1950s to the 1980s and was the largest milk-producing community in the nation. Chino is relatively close to Los Angeles and as a result, was a very popular filming destination for remote scenes in the mid 20th century. Chino has evolved to become a middle class suburb, however there are still many industrial and agricultural areas. Chino is also home to two prisons which are referenced frequently in music and television.
